Yahoo Cleans Out Their Closet
Yahoo has been providing e-mail services since the 90s, and I remember a time when we all had one. So now they're clearing up storage by resetting inactive accounts and making them available for public use again.
So if you use your Yahoo account as a backup for when you forget your Gmail password or any other account password, PLEASE login to your Yahoo account to ping them and let them know you still want to use this account. And at the same time check out how cool their new layout is now. Get the idea now?
Samsung Premier 2013
Too many new products were announced on the 20th of June. They were the ATIV Tab 3 Windows Tablet, ATIV Book 9 Ultrabook, ATIV Book 9 Lite Ultrabook, ATIV One 5 Style PC ala - iMac, ATIV Q tablet that dual boots into Windows 8 and Android, Galaxy NX Mirrorless Camera with LTE and powered by Android 4.2, and the Galaxy S4 Active that can go underwater.
Phew. Watch the video below for more info:
Instagram Sneak In Video Ads
Rumor has it they are planning to place video advertisements onto our feeds. Why am I not surprised. I understand Facebook's need to at least make back the money they spent buying Instagram, but if they don't do it careful enough they will end up shooing users away.
Match-Make Your Band
Having too much trouble finding your perfect band mate for that experimental music you want to make? Try Giggem, a new site for musicians, bands, songwriters, managers, labels and fans to get together and work out opportunities. You fill in your account profile, and a search algorithm will match-make you with individuals and groups out there best suited to your taste. I only wish this came out when Constellations of Sparky was around.
Restructure Rumors in Microsoft
Einstein said: Insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Good on you Microsoft for noticing your problems before it's too late and doing something about it. Break down those silos get more sideways integration going on. Let's hope this leads to a more competitive Microsoft.
Android Tablet/Laptop Hybrids a New Trend?
So Samsung and HP announced Android-powered slates (tablet/laptop hybrid machines) instead of the more conventional Windows 8. Does this mean hardware makers are already getting tired of Windows 8 and their poor sales?
Facebook Building Flipboard Clone
They're jumping into the reader bandwagon! Not surprising, they're doing everything that works with everyone else. But then again if they have a Flipboard-like app, it would move people away from their original mobile app, no? This would also harm advertisements, no? I guess it's better to eat yourself than someone else eat you up.
Windows 8.1 with Start Button. Sort of
The Start Button is back with Windows 8.1. But there's a problem. It's not the same as the Start Button on Windows 7. This button pulls up shortcuts to the Start Menu (you know, that Metro screen), and right-clicking pulls up shortcuts to administrative commands. Good news is though, turning the machine off is a whole lot easier.
We want to be able to launch any software in our machine without having to leave the desktop mode, can't you guys understand this?
