The Weekly: 01 June 2013

Highlights
Foxconn and Apple gets a divorce, Stilly the GIF maker, New Tumblr angers users, DOG in COD, Singaporean super sensitive sensors, Vine for Android, Motorola going home, Waze and Facebook integrates further.

Foxconn Works Their Way Out of Apple
Foxconn has been making Apple hardware for a good many years. Now they want to shake the chain off and start going on out on their own. With all the technology and resources, they'd be silly not to try this out. And Apple will be silly to not foresee this move.

Apple Leaves Foxconn
Well they did foresee this move, and they've announced Pegatron their new supplier. What's with their name? Pegasus + Megatron? Good for Apple!

Stilly for All Your Tumblr Needs
Stilly is this new iOS-exclusive (for now) app that does one-touch GIF. They initially wanted to chase after the Vine fever, but end up taking more mainstream rave. Because Vine took an unexpected turn when creators started going all professional on it, leaving everyone else feeling stupid for not being able to at least match in creativity. So there you go, one for pros and another one for everyone else.

Tumblr Flips, Users Go Bonkers
Already the existing users are on their toes ready to jump ship when Yahoo bought Tumblr. But Meyers' promise kept them calm and thinking just maybe Tumblr will remain the same. Then comes completely unnecessary changes and advertisements. Good job Yahoo: instead of winning the hearts of consumers you guys have just created a hate cult.

That being said, people chill the hell out. These changes are so minor it's barely noticeable (for now). Get over it and keep posting and sharing.

New COD with Dogs
There you go, COD. Now it's personal. People can get tortured and die all the time in every bloody movie and we're okay with it. But a dog. A dog?! One does not simply kill a dog, period.

No Need To Flash, Super Sensitive Sensor Is Here
The Nanyang Technological University developed an awesome sensor a thousand times more sensitive than your conventional camera sensor today. It's made of Graphene, which is more conductive than silicone, as flexible as rubber and can handle heat better than diamond. All I can say is; let's see Universiti Sains Malaysia come up with something usable.

Vine Tangles Android
Vine for Twitter, a video posting app, has been on iOS for about half a year now and is finally on Android. A little too late you think? Now that Vine has found it's niche as a more 'professional' amateur short video/GIF-creation app. Please bring Stilly to Android!

Motorola Going Home
They've just built a plant in Texas, where they will be making (at least the MotoX for now) devices. Good move I say. If you can't beat them in pricing and epicness, beat them in social responsibility.

Waze with Increased Facebook Integration
Now you sort of know where your Facebook friends are you can interact from within Waze. I'm hating Waze more already.
